On loan to Puerto Rico... 3 months and one day later than we expected Steve entered the MTC. I'm getting a lot of use out of the word "bittersweet" these days. In the back of my mind on the way home I thought it would be perfect if Steve was waiting at home for us. Can't you picture someone with authority saying "your family has been through enough. Steve's mission can be here with you. It is enough that you were willing to send him." Hey, it worked for Abraham. Oh well. Justine's not old enough to marry him right now anyways!

In all seriousness, I'm surprised at how hard it still is days later. The memory of those awful weeks is still very fresh to me. Every time I look at pictures of Steve I'm reminded of how completely terrified I was that night at the hospital in Roosevelt. And yet here he is - 99% recovered and ready to serve the Lord for two years. He's a living testament to the power of prayer and healthy living.
